2021 Base Pay Increment Negotiation: Salary Increase Approved For Teachers -Check Date for payment

How far with the 2021 base pay increment negotiation with the gov’t? – Teachers quiz their union leaders.

A statement released indicates that His Excellency the President of Ghana will present the State of the Nation Address to the people of Ghana in Parliament on Tuesday, 9th March 2021.

Then, on Friday 12th March 2021, the Acting Minister of Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta, will present the 2021 Budget Statement (from the 2nd Quarter) to the Parliament for approval.

In connection with my earlier inquiry from my abled and indefatigable Leadership concerning this year’s Base Pay Increment which I was promised I would be updated before the budget is presented to Parliament.

I humbly inquire from our Union Leadership whether the 2021 Base Pay Increment Negotiation with the Government has been concluded?

And if affirmative, what is the percentage increase as the current economic conditions in the country is highly unbearable to the ordinary teacher in the country as a result of daily escalating prices of goods and services.

The National Association of Graduate Teachers earlier on wanted the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to immediately begin negotiations on the base pay in 2021.

As the government increased the base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure by 12% across the board a year ago. This increased the rate from GH¢9.10 per day in 2019 to GH¢10.19 in 2020.

Speaking to Citi News, the President of NAGRAT, Angel Carbon, who lamented the poor conditions of service of public sector workers, said the current economic hardships demanded a twenty-five percent increment for the 2021 base pay.
