245 Ghanaians living in Kuwait illegally will be deported to Ghana tomorrow May 23, 2020 They will be departing the gulf country tonight and will be arriving in Accra via a chartered flight early morning.
According to Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, the government is satisfied with the verification of the deportees who he said have been certified by the foreign services mission official.
He noted that the deportees will be quarantined and tested before they can be allowed to go home.
“I do know that the deliberations have gone on for some weeks now, and the government of Ghana has been engaged by the government of Kuwait; the government of Ghana has been satisfied by the diplomatic requirements that have been fulfilled by the government of Kuwait”, Mr. Oppomg-Nkrumah said.
Continuing he said “Perhaps I must also said that our heart goes out to all our compatriots out there for one reason or the other because of the closure of the borders are not able to ordinarily moved into the Ghanaian jurisdiction.”
He further pointed out that the government has secured data of potential Ghanaians abroad which it will be analysed before making a decision as to whether they should be allowed into the country.
Other cohorts from other parts of Africa, Europe, USA will also be screened and decision taken about whether they would be allowed entry into Ghana.
