2022/2023 Admissions requirement for Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Ghana, Legon (UG) ;

Pharmacy is a subject that deals with the ways of preparing and allocating medicines. Scholars attending Pharmacy degrees will learn how different types of medicines affect the human body and mind and how they interact when mixed.

Bachelor

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy will involve spending time in laboratories, researching and learning about the chemistry used to develop pharmaceuticals. Some of the courses covered by this degree consist of Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmacy Practice.

During courses, students will learn about the fundamentals of pharmaceutical sciences. They will increase knowledge from relevant fields, such as Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, and Ethics. During the final years of study, the method will shift from theory to practice. You will also have to do a personal research project and present your discoveries.

Minimum/General Entry Requirements for Doctor of Pharmacy:

GHANA WASSCE/SSSCE – Minimum/General Entry

 

Entry requirements:

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies
Electives: Credit passes in Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Elective Mathematics

WASSCE/SSSCE RESULTS FROM THE WEST AFRICAN SUB-REGION

Entry Requirements

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics and a Science subject such as Agriculture, General Science or Health Science
Electives: Credit passes in Three (3) Electives comprising Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Further Mathematics

 

American High School Grade 12

For International Applicants and Ghanaians with Foreign Background)

Entry Requirements

An applicant for admission to a degree programme in the University of Ghana must have a Final Grade Point of at least 3.0
Admissions will be to Level 100.

 

GCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ and ‘O’ Levels

Entry Requirements

Three (3) ‘A’ Level subjects comprising Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Mathematics.

 

International Baccalaureate (IB)

The University of Ghana welcomes applications from students who follow the IB Diploma Programme and meet the following College requirements. Admissions will be to Level 100.

Entry requirements:

Applicants must have at least Grade 5 in Chemistry, and either Biology or Physics at the Higher Level.

In addition, applicants must have at least grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics SL and at least grade C for the third science at the IGCSE or equivalent.
