Commonwealth Grant in Nigeria

2022 Commonwealth Grant in Nigeria

2022 Commonwealth Grant in Nigeria; The Commonwealth Foundation Grant is a programme that supports creative and innovative project ideas and principles that strives to fortify the abilities of civic voices to engage with governments and through effective participation, strengthen governance and increase positive development outcomes. Annually, the Foundation provides these grants to motivate positive interaction between civil society and the institutions of governance. However, in place of the annual grants, a special grant has been launched due to the rising of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Being one of the three intergovernmental pillars of the Commonwealth, the Foundation works to encourage engagement between the government and the people. The focus of the special grant is on providing support to Commonwealth civil society organizations to aid an immediate and effective response to the pandemic. Through funded projects, the Foundation will address all major priorities which the pandemic has created. The Foundation grants support civil society projects that seek to promote the Foundation’s Strategic Plan 2021-2026 which addresses the priority themes of the Foundation namely Health, Environment and Climate Change and Freedom of Expression.
