No where is safe as for the coronavirus pandemic is concerned. Markets, industries, sports and now schools have been affected by it.
On Wednesday, UNESCO said more than 850 million young people or about half the world’s student population, are barred from their school and University grounds because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Schools in 102 countries are been closed, with partial closures in 11, and more closures to come. UNESCO called it an ‘ unprecedented challenge’.
The scale and speed of the school and University closures represents an unprecedented challenge for the education sector. UNESCO said.
Some countries are offering classes over television and radio.
UNESCO said it is holding regular virtual meetings with education Minister’s to find the best solutions and determine priorities. ‘ The current situation imposes immense challenges for countries to be able to provide uninterrupted learning for all children and youth in an equitable manner’, UNESCO said.
