Ghana Education Service: NaCCA sends strong warning SHS Schools

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has cautioned schools on the use of unapproved textbooks in schools.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment(NaCCA) has realized that some schools(both private and public) Kindergarten, Primary, Junior and Senior High Schools are using unapproved books. Additionally, some individuals and publishing companies are advertising unapproved books across the country. One of such books is ‘Golden History of Ghana’ for basic 6 published by Golden publication and authored by Mercy Gyaa-Adiyiah.

NaCCA wishes to inform all Pre-tertiary schools both private and public to stop using unapproved books in school.

NaCCA cautioned the general public that, it is illegal to use unapproved books(textbook and supplementary readers) in pre-tertiary schools.

NaCCA will soon visit all schools both private and public pre-tertiary schools, any school found using unapproved books shall be brought to book. The publishers and authors will be made to face the law.

NaCCA is the institution mandated by Education Act 1023 to approve all books, teaching and learning materials for use in pre-tertiary schools in Ghana.
