Kotoko VS Al-Hilal :Kotoko suspect “foul play” after 11 staff test positive for COVID-19
Asante Kotoko’s CAF Champions League game against Sudanese side, Al-Hilal, has been called off after 11 members of the Ghanaian side tested positive for COVID-19.
After dropping to a 0-1 loss at home to Al-Hilal, the Kumasi-based outfit traveled to Sudan to play the return fixture of their CAF Champions League game.
A COVID-19 test conducted before the match, however, returned 11 members of the Porcupine Warriors team positive.
The Ghanaian outfit remain highly suspicious of the test results released by the Sudanese officials.
In a tweet, Kotoko said: “Al Hilal vrs Asante Kotoko Game called off as we await CAF decision. Asante Kotoko has officially petitioned CAF on the overwhelming anomalies [associated] with our covid 19 results”.
Seven players and four officials came out positive after the test in contention.
Kotoko insist that the COVID results have been tampered with, adding that the “positive results clearly look different from the Negative results.”
The Ghanaian outfit is however “at the stadium to present a team” to compete, a club notice asserts, awaiting a response from CAF.
