The past few months have been tough times indeed. Coronavirus hit the world out of nowhere and unexpected.
Italy, Germany, USA, China, Britain just to name a few have put in place lockdowns to prevent the coronavirus from further spreading.
Now Ghana wants to follow suit, as there are contemplation from the higher ups on whether there should be a lockdown or not.
The European countries are first and foremost countries with stable economic systems, improved healthcare, and are more developed than Ghana.
Ghana, a country where most people are predominantly poor, living condition is at it’s lowest standard, healthcare system very unreliable, educational system very questionable.
A country where most people have to sell by streets to survive, a country where streetism feels like a norm.
Now the question becomes are we ready for a lockdown? I think it is a NO, why? Because people struggle to afford 3 square meals a day.
Am not against a lockdown, but what measures is the government going to take to ensure citizens are sustained during a lockdown?
I don’t want to compare Ghana with other countries, but I suggest the government should at least provide funds to all citizens or food for the people.
The basic worry of the people is how they are going feed themselves during these tough times, and providing them with a way to survive would serve as a relief for them.
#WE SHALL OVERCOME.
