UCC: Security Men drive students from WiFi Joints

Internet connectivity as we all agree, has over the years become a vital part of the life of students on the various campuses. In UCC, students are seen almost always at the various WiFi locations, making very good use of the browsing opportunity.

Unfortunately, the security men at science were seen on Sunday 27th January 2019, chasing some students away from the WiFi locations at the Institute of Education and the College of Education at exactly 8:00PM.

According to the security, it is an order from above to drive students away at that exact time while he recounted on how he suffered humiliation at the hands of his “chief” the previous day for allowing students to be around at 8:00PM.

Speaking further, he indicated that even though school has resumed for over a week, it is still seen as school has not resumed fully since lecture had not began but couldn’t tell if there would be a change when lecture begins on Monday, 28th January 2019. He therefore encouraged students to join hands and call on the SRC Executives to fight for a change on their behalf else he wouldn’t have any other choice than to drive them away anytime he receives an order of that kind.

A similar incident occurred at Oldsite last semester where a student’s phone was seized at the administration while using WiFi in the evening.

Would there be a change when lectures begin today?
