UEW sacks Nigerian Professor Nwagbara for disparaging comments

The University of Education, Winneba, has dismissed Nigerian English lecturer, Professor Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara, with immediate effect.

The Nigerian English Professor has presumed and shielded instant fame in Ghanaian media, both traditional and social. This was occasioned by his unsavory comments in a video that has since gone viral regarding very sensitive issues, downgrading the standard and value of Ghanaian education, among others.

In a statement signed by the Registrar of UEW, the university said it took a very serious action on the video which had circulated on social media involving Prof. Nwagbara. [irp]

It emphatically said the university “after subjecting Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara to internal disciplinary process, finds him culpable of gross misconduct and has, accordingly, dismissed him”.

However, the university apologises to Ghanaians “for Prof. Nwagbara’s disparaging remarks about the country’s educational system and further evidently indicates that the comments were full of inaccuracies and inconsistencies”.
